Samsung CLP-510 Laser Printer

Nice laser printer!

In November of last year that ended just two days ago, our corporate office decided to acquire two laser printers and as expected, I was assigned the job of finding the best ones for the best price.

After reading lots of reviews and price comparisons, I decided to recommend this Samsung CLP-510 laser printer for the job. This was the first time I had ever recommend a Samsung printer; I just wanted to see if they were better than the HP and Canon laser printers. This time we did not purchase these printers from a retail store, instead we decided to go online and find the best deals. We went to www.superwarehouse.com and got a good deal on these for about $369.99 a piece.

THE INSTALLATION :
The setup process was simple enough since I followed the steps in the quick setup guide; after all it was the first time I was setting up Samsung printers. It took me less than forty five minutes to unpack and completely setup the units; again because this was the first time with this brand. The software and driver installation was fairly quick compared to some other manufacturers who make installing drivers a pain and time consuming. But the wait also pays off, and in this case the performance and quality is very good. I had these printers connected and running in about thirty minutes.

THE MANUAL :
The user manual is very simple to read and comprehend; everything is easy to find. The girls at the corporate office are not computer scientists, but with a little help from the user manual they can now operating this machine even with their eyes closed. Samsung has always done a great job in writing their user manuals, for all their products.

 This printer has one bad feature: it counts pages printed and when it gets to a set number, it tells you it is out of one color of toner and will refuse to print at all. If you replace that color, it then immediately tells you it is out of another color. You have to replace all 4 cartridges to get it to print again. So how did they all run out at the same time? They didn't!!! Once the page count is reached, it lies to you. If all you ever printed was black, it would still tell you you are out of red, etc. And you cannot simply refill the cartridges. There is a circuit board on each cartridge that has to be replaced to reset even if full. Solution if you already bought one? Print only color documents, do not use up your color on black and white pages. If you have not bought one, do not, unless you like spending another $300 on refills. I have not found anyone to do the replacement of the circuit board (you can get them for about $10 each but you have to solder next to plastic).
