My wife
and I just upgraded our phones because I always want the newest technology and
plus my wife’s phone was old and slow. I used to have the
LG
VX-8100 and I replaced it with the new Motorola Razr V3M cell phone.
My wife had the
Samsung A670 and she replaced that with the
newer Samsung A950 cell phone. Luckily, both of these phones have a TransFlash
or microSD slot so I did not have to buy different cards. But I had to get rid
of my older
SanDisk miniSD cards as I do not have use for
them anymore. Maybe I can sell them on eBay later. I bought two of these
1GB SanDisk TransFlash microSD cards from Newegg.com for about $40 each
(plus shipping) – I thought that was a great deal.
DESCRIPTION :
The SanDisk 1 GB TransFlash card is a very tiny (even smaller than those Olympus
xD picture cards) storage device that plugs into any compatible device and
extends the storage space enormously. This card is very small and sometimes it
is hard to get a hold of it. If you have long nails, than you probably won’t be
able to grab this card. It is a plug-n-play (PNP) device, so the phone you plug
this into will have no trouble recognizing it. The package also comes with a
TransFlash or microSD to SD adapter so you can use it in any memory card reader
that supports SD (I use my
SanDisk ImageMate 8-in-1 card reader to
transfer files on it).
I learned my lesson last time when I bought a 256 MB miniSD for my last phone
and went straight for the 1GB this time to skip all the hassle. I used to take
pictures on my phone and email (costs money or air time) them from my phone to
my Yahoo email account; then I would have to download them to my computer. Now,
all I do is take the picture and when I am ready, I just plug the card into the
adapter and then into my reader and I am done. All the pictures and video clips
are there; just have to copy them to my hard drive. Another good thing about
this is that I can transfer the video clips or flix from the card to my
60GB
iPod Video (after transferring them to the computer first).
WHY I BOUGHT IT?
Well, my wife and I take lots of pictures and record lost of video clips on our
phones, so we needed something with huge storage space and this 1GB TransFlash
cards provides just that. Now we do not have to worry about running out of space
because I can virtually store hundreds of pictures, video clips, and music on my
phone.
We already have a card reader on my desktop computer and my laptop has a SD card
reader built in also, so we were all set to go. Even though our phones have
Bluetooth capabilities, it still requires some special configurations and time
to transfer files to and from the phones (knowing Verizon they disabled file
transfer on these phones so we can only sync our phonebook and calendar, but I
am working on getting it to work).
DIMENSIONS :
This SanDisk TransFlash microSD 1 GB card is about fifteen millimeters long,
eleven millimeters wide, and about one millimeter thick. Yup, it is tiny (now
you know why they call it micro). It is about half the size of the miniSD card I
used before and about a quarter the size of a regular SD card.
The adapter is the same size as the regular SD card that has a little slot for
this microSD. This TransFlash card fits perfectly from the top of the adapter.
When this micro is fitted properly into the adapter, you will not be able to
tell if you are using a regular SD or a microSD with an adapter. Together they
will look just like the regular SD cards.
THE PACKAGE & WARRANTY :
The package includes the Secure Digital Micro 1GB card, the microSD to SD
adapter, and a book of additional fun toys you can purchase that are made by
SanDisk.
SanDisk provides a 5 year limited warranty on this product. To obtain warranty
service or more information, you can call 1-866-SanDisk (726-3475),
email them at support@sandisk.com, or visit

FINAL THOUGHTS :
This SanDisk microSD card is easy to use because it does not require you to
install any drivers, and it is faster than most other data transfer device. The
cards compact (tiny) size also makes it easy to store and plug in without any
problems. But sometimes these may seem too small and that can be a bad thing.
But best of all, you can almost use the microSD on most new cell phone with a
microSD ports. I have used the some smaller capacity cards in the past and all I
can say now is that get the biggest capacity card you can afford because you
will certainly run out of space before you know it. |
