Latosta Ultra Portable Laptop Stand

Nice lift and cooling without fans!

I was lucky enough to test both the Aluminum and Stainless steel versions of the Latosta Ultra Portable Laptop Stand made in the US by Starlight Creations.  These stands are portable and cost anywhere from $9.95 to 15.95.  Check it out!

LOOK AND FEEL
This laptop is designed with ultra portability in mind because they can easily fit into almost any carrying case or pocket.  They come in two different materials: anodized aluminum and stainless steel.  They have tiny plastic caps to prevent scratches and also helps with gripping on whatever you sit your laptop on.  Here are some pictures of what it looks like with the Lenovo T60 and the HP ZT3280US laptops.

to prolong the life of the laptop by keeping the running temp down as much as practical.

I have a passive stand like this by another mfgr. but it is impractical to take with me when traveling. In those cases, I simply use anything that is handy and about 1" to 2.5" thick (paperback book, wallet, soap bar, etc.) to place under the back, bottom edge to prop it up to allow more air to circulate underneath the laptop. This should increase the convection flow of air, hopefully.

It's interesting that you were able to measure the temperature of your laptop, accurately. I will have to try that with my small, portable pocket IR indirect thermometer.

Interesting review with good documentation.

I agree that while it is highly unlikely that one would make something like this a necessity on trips whether business or pleasure. But I have a feeling or at lease want future laptops to have built-in like keyboards nowadays (the one's that fold in when not in use).

Anyways, thanks again.

I might have to look into this one, considering the cost. But the compatibility...?

Yes its interesting. It is compatible with laptops that have at least half an inch of space on either side of the keyboard. I wouldn't recommend it for anything else.
