Blackberry Storm 9530 Smart Phone

Never buy first generation anything... period!

I was so excited when I got the Blackberry Storm 9530 smart phone on the day it was released (November 21st, 2008).  I have since gotten three warranty replacements (with the same device of course) hoping to get a device that would work as it was advertised.

First time around it was the screen clicking issue, the second time was the device not connecting to BES anymore and the third time was a combination of both.  Seems like third time around is a charm for sure.  The screen clicks fine and I have no network issues as of yet.  I did upgrade to the latest *official* operating system but its crap.  So I went to the Blackberry Storm OS black market (well not really, they are pretty easy to find now) and got the latest *leaked* or beta OS.  I am currently on version 5.0.0.230 and loving every minute of it.  Flick scroll, faster everything, camera works faster, pop-up keys when typing and more

I love the touch screen! Can't seem to press the corners very well. Anyways I'm going to keep it until I get the iPhone in the spring. I got it about 2 months ago and I've been addicted since than. Kind of waiting for the update to fix a couple things but for the most part it's great!

Yes the corners of the screen are hard to click. There are updates official and unofficial if you want. Visit crackberry.com forums. I am keeping mine too, at least until the contract expires. Then off to try out the iPhone. But I have a feeling I will be rushing back to a Blackberry soon after.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by to read and comment.

I like Blackberry Storm 9530 due to it's touch features, but have you ever tried LG GS250 Cookie fresh? as this is also having same features but low cost.
  • Don Krider  - Kudos!
Thanks for a thorough, well-written and very intelligent article.
